🔍 R350 call-out to inspect & diagnose

Quick answer

We repair tumble dryers on site across Gauteng: Johannesburg, Sandton, Midrand, Pretoria, Centurion and the East and West Rand. The usual faults are no heat (element, thermal fuse or thermostat), a drum that won't turn (belt, pulley or motor), noisy drums (rollers and bearings) and slow drying from blocked ducts or condensers. We work on Bosch, Samsung, LG, Defy, Whirlpool, Miele, AEG, Speed Queen and most other brands. Call-out and diagnosis is R350, with a fixed price before we start.

First, the free fix

Before anything else, clean the lint filter, and on condenser dryers rinse the condenser unit and empty the water tank. A huge share of "it's not drying" calls are blocked airflow. On a vented dryer, check the hose isn't crushed behind the machine. If it still runs cold, read tumble dryer not heating.

What kind of dryer do you have?

Vented

Blows hot, damp air out through a hose. Simple and cheap to fix. Most faults are elements, thermal fuses, belts and blocked hoses.

Condenser

Collects the water in a tank or pumps it away. Adds condenser, pump and sensor faults to the list, and blocked condensers are very common.

Heat pump

Very efficient but more complex, with a small sealed refrigeration system inside. Slow drying is often blocked filters or condenser fins. Gas faults need a proper diagnosis.

Runs but no heatHeating element, thermal fuse, overheat thermostat, or the heat pump on heat-pump models
Drum doesn't turnSnapped belt, worn idler pulley, or motor
Squealing, thumping or grindingDrum rollers, bearings, felt seals or the idler pulley
Takes forever to dryBlocked lint path, duct or condenser, or a faulty moisture sensor
Stops mid-cycleOverheating from blocked airflow, a door switch, or a full water tank
Won't startDoor switch, start button, thermal fuse or control board

A word on fire risk

Lint is very flammable. A dryer that's running hotter than usual, smells of burning or keeps tripping its thermal fuse usually has blocked airflow somewhere. Don't keep resetting it. Clean the filter after every load and have the duct and the inside of the machine cleaned if drying times keep creeping up.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my tumble dryer running but not heating?

On most dryers it's the heating element, a blown thermal fuse or a faulty thermostat. Blocked airflow often causes the fuse to blow in the first place, so we check that too.

Is it worth repairing a tumble dryer?

Usually. Elements, fuses, belts and rollers are affordable parts. Heat-pump sealed-system faults cost more, and we'll give you the numbers.

Why does my condenser dryer take so long?

Most often a blocked condenser or lint path. Rinse the condenser and clean the filter area. If it's still slow, the moisture sensor or heating may be failing.

Do you repair heat-pump dryers?

Yes, including Bosch, Samsung, LG and Miele heat-pump models.

How much does a dryer repair cost?

The call-out and diagnosis is R350. The repair is quoted as a fixed price before we start.
