Hillside homes and storm season
Fairland sits on the slopes around Northcliff Hill, with mostly freestanding family homes, many with steep driveways and split-level layouts. Moving a heavy appliance in or out isn't easy here, so we repair on site wherever we can.
The ridge catches Highveld storms, and lightning-related surge damage is a regular reason for our Fairland call-outs.
Storms on the ridge
When a thunderstorm builds, unplug sensitive appliances like inverter fridges, TVs and washing machines if you can. It's the simplest surge protection there is.

Frequently asked questions
Can you repair a fridge without moving it?
Usually, yes. Most fridge repairs are done in place, which is handy on steep or split-level properties.
Is it worth repairing an older appliance?
Usually, if it's under about 10 years old and the fault isn't a failed sealed system. We'll tell you honestly when replacing makes more sense.
Do you give a written quote?
Yes. After diagnosis you get a fixed price, by WhatsApp or on paper, before any work starts.
