Water dripping from the indoor unit can damage walls, floors and furniture. Here's what usually causes it and how to stop it.
Quick answer: An aircon leaks water indoors mainly because the condensate drain line is blocked (dust, mould or insects), dirty filters have caused the indoor coil to freeze and drip as it melts, the unit is not level, or it's low on gas, which also causes icing. Switch the unit off, clean the filters, and if it keeps leaking, have the drain cleared.

A service once or twice a year, ideally before summer, clears the drain line, cleans the coil and checks the gas pressure. In dusty Highveld conditions, clean the filters every 2 to 4 weeks during heavy use.
If you see ice on the indoor coil or pipes, don't ignore it. It usually means poor airflow or low gas, and running the unit like that for long can damage the compressor.
